PAUL TOBEY IT'S TIME
Paul Tobey presents “It’s Time”, a romantic & soulful solo piano album that features timeless and elegant melodies mostly selected by over 12 000 jazz piano enthusiasts around the world subscribed to his YouTube channel “JazzMentl”.
“It’s Time” represents a remarkable pivot in the human spirit, an inspirational journey of healing, and, finally, a daring pursuit to return to his piano and his audience after two decades. The album was recorded on his beloved Ibach grand piano at his home studio.
"Over the past 20 years, I’ve had time to reflect on the importance of time and pursuing one’s dreams. It was a privilege to witness and be a mentor to the dreams of others, yet I’ve also mourned for those who’ve suffered loss. What is certain is that “time” is the one thing we cannot get more of no matter how hard we try. So “It’s Time” becomes the capsule of my journey, a snapshot of where I am now. I share the most vulnerable parts of myself in a raw form, solo piano and gratitude."

What happened to Paul Tobey?
Newly signed to Arkadia Jazz (USA) in 2001, Paul had the wind in his back. Tobey’s first release on Arkadia garnered a Juno Nomination (Canada’s Grammy). Paul toured Canada, UAE, Japan and the Netherlands. Paul’s practice and performance routines proved too much and lead him to suffer from musculoskeletal complaints. He was soon diagnosed with severe Tendonitis in his forearms. His playing related injuries were too advanced in nature to respond to medical intervention. The Dr said “Paul, if you don’t stop playing now you won’t be able to hold a cup of coffee”.
While Paul was aware he was experiencing pain in his back, neck & arms, he was not anticipating that the cumulative trauma to his arms would end his performance career. It was crushing news. The man behind the musician had to journey inward. In the face of complex realities, and a young family to provide for, Tobey proved his resilience through immense self-transformation and earned his certifications as a speaker and business trainer. Through this new profession turned successful business venture, he was able to help thousands of entrepreneurs across North America pursue & achieve their dreams while never giving up on his own.tis, pulvinar dapibus leo.
